Information Security Awareness Training - External storage formats

Backup copies of recently are very important to your bussines successfully safe. There are many different ways to store and to make backup copies. The safest way from information security awareness point of view, of course, is to save these copies on external storage devices and set them as far as possible away from your office. Here are some devices from which you can choose is the best for your backups! * A floppy disk drive data storage, that there is a disk arethin, flexible ("floppy") magnetic storage medium encased in a square or rectangular plastic shell. Floppy discs are read and written by a floppy disk drive or FDD. Capacity: 1,44 MB (3½-inch disc), 1.2 MB (5¼-inch disc) Problems: There can be saved only low capacity files! To make backups for all files you need hundreds of floppy discs! Sometimes they just broken and all information on them lost!

*Zip Disc Similar to a floppy disc, but slightly larger. Cannot be used used in the same slot for floppies, and even higher capacity Zip discs must be used in a drive with at least the same capacity ability. Capacity: 100MB - 750MB problems: discs inconvenient for use because there are different size wheels and different size of the disc drive! You not as diffuse as the other storage devices!

* CD-RW stands for CD-RW disc, a CD-type disc that you can write on it in several sittings. CD-RW media canonly be written in a CD-RW recorder, not in a simple CD recorder, though record a CD-RW burner and standard CD-R discs. Capacity: up to 700MB Problems: You have to buy a CD-RW drive if your computer does not come with one, but today in most computers come with this drive! CDs can be easily damaged!

* DVD-RW stands for DVD-RW, a re-DVD format similar to DVD + RW. The data on a DVD-RW disc can be erased and recorded over numerous times without damaging the medium. Capacity: up to 4.7 GB of problems: you need to buy a DVD-RW drive if your computer does not come with one! DVD discs are easily damaged!

* USB Flash A small, portable flash memory card that plugs into the USB port of the computer and acts as a portable hard drive. USB flash drives are as easy to use because they are small enough to be advertised in a bag and can be in any computer with USB connector> Drive - you need no special equipment recorder. Capacity: 128MB - 8GB problems: Because of USB flash size is easy to install! Keep this device with the backup copies in safe and for you, well-known place.

* Removable Hard Disc One type of disc drive, are included in the hard disk in plastic or metal cartridges, so that they can be removed like floppy disks. Removable Disk drives combine the best aspects of hard and floppy --Discs. They are almost as large and as fast as hard drives and the portability of floppy discs. Capacity: up to 20 GB of problems: All information is stored on a device, so that is when something bad happen with a single device all the information, even endangered! So better to make more than one backup copy. All devices have some problems, but when backups are in the right way to make and then keep in a safe place, you really have a good chance your data back in an emergencyState!
